Boston Conservatory students, once again, played an amazing percussion ensemble concert. The program was directed by faculty members Sam Solomon and myself. The program included: Pattern Transformation by Ligeti, Music for Pieces of Wood by Reich, Omphalo Centric Lecture by Westlake, Foreign Objects by Bergamo
JoAnn Falleta and the “Los Mayas” percussion section. The Day of Percussion was a huge success. In addition, the concert that night included a program called “Drums on the Niagara” by the Buffalo Philharmonic. The program included Silvestre Revueltas’ “La Noche de los Mayas” (1939)
Susan Powell and Joe Krygier hosted the 8th annual High School Percussion Ensemble Festival. Anders Astrand and I were guests. I performed Nick Papador’s Summons for solo timpani and percussion ensemble with the OSU group. Also, presented a clinic and evaluated the HS groups. It
