Tuesday & Wednesday, May 25 & 26, 2010

The auditions were two and a half days long and there was some great playing!   I learned a lot from those of you that took the audition – some wonderful creative playing – I got a lot of great ideas for my own playing and teaching!   If you took the audition, I’m happy to provide comments if you’d like some feedback – I took a lot of notes during the audition so feel free to email me and I’m happy to send you comments.

My email address is:   keithaleo@aol.com

AND, the winner is:  Rob Knopper – he will be taking Eric Renick’s spot – as many of you know, Eric won the principal percussion spot in the Auckland Philharmonia.   Rob played great, super musical and technically sound.   Rob got his degree from Juilliard and studied with Dan Druckman.   Congrats Rob!

The below photos:  the audition set up from my perspective in the hall.  What I was looking at for 2 1/2 days!   Also, a great photo of Rob and Brian Flesher (timpanist of the New World Symphony Orchestra) in front of Juilliard a few years back.   Both Brian and Rob studied with me at Interlochen Arts Camp when they were in high school.
